An eye-opening book. I have read a lot about the Nazis in WWII; this book gave me a better understanding of what happened in the Pacific theater of the war in general, and to the POW under the Japanese in particular. Graphic because of the subject matter, but within the context of the narrative. The underlying story of human endurance and ultimately forgiveness is inspiring.
