As good as it is said to be. I found the sensibilities of the main character to be a little on the selfish side, but given that he was drafted, that's entirely understandable. Reminds me of how the draft affected an entire generation during Vietnam. There were plenty of volunteers during that war but the resentment of the draftees, amplified by the politically motivated media blitz, drowned out any voice but their bitter ones. Separated from the political distortions, this book is really excellent.

I am reading one page-turner after another, and it's killing my sleep. I love this book, though.
