"We've learned some very good things about ourselves, Ted," Susan said coldly. "I don't think you're being very helpful, closing yourself in and trying to be superior. Don't you realize that this could be the most meaningful experience of our lives. Somehow reading this statement made me wish something crazy like Charles Decker happened to me when I was in high school. Just the realisation that no one is perfect, and the world can be the cruellest of places to live in; and then be able to build your life on those facts. I personally feel that kids are the meanest, hardest creatures in existence and can be extremely cruel to each other without realising the harm they're causing. And just maybe there should be more people that is willing to stand and make everyone tell their 'dirty little secrets' for the others to realise they are not alone out there. This is a brilliant book that makes you think and re-think some of your own more funrable moments in life. I am aware that King withdrawn this book from publishers after similar occurrences took place in America, and I get how children can see this as incouragedment to take matters in their own hands. So read with caution ⚠ young ones, and always remember there are other ways, but read it none the less.
Cooky...to the fullest extent. Cant belive someone really grew up that way
Wow. What a glimpse into the ups and the--all too often--downs of life with autism. I enjoyed Christopher and following (well in some cases trying to follow) his thought process and reasoning. I loved his narration. He seemed very real to me. His parents... hmm... very frustrating, but they love him. And the other adults... am I that ignorant as well? Siobhan. I liked her.
