I knew the book was a romance/adventure/vampire story, and my sister said she thought I would like it so I gave it a go. I'm an older male so I'm not exactly the target reader, but here's my take. I really liked it as a whole, but there was a point when I felt I couldn't bare to read anymore, because of the excessive romantic banter between Bella and Edward. Once it started between them, it just went on too long and too strong for me. However, the moment I tired of it, the next chapter moved the story forward nicely. So there is just a small section of the book that became a bit much for me. I don't know how many millions of copies it's sold, but women are loving it. So fellas, if your having problems with the ladies, buy a copy and use it as a sort of workbook.

Surprisingly great for goal setting!! Good read!

Funny and sad. Even if it does gloss over some of the process Joey goes through overcoming his obstacles.

I read this as one of my 2015 TBR Pile Challenge books. The story of a small city in Algeria in the 1940s that's beset by plague. That's right, the for-realsies plague. And it struck much like it had in the Middle Ages: first bubonic, then pneumonic. The book follows Dr. Rieux on his rounds as he makes house calls and hospital visits to fewer and fewer patients. On his travels he meets several of the townspeople and is able to see how they react as their neighbors die and the town is quarantined. It becomes a sociology study. I suppose that's what I most appreciated and disliked about the book. It's fascinating to see the societal reactions to a crisis of this kind, but the narration is very dispassionate. That's explained at the end, but it still made it less absorbing for me.
