This book was WAY to Christian for my taste - it really annoys me when evangelical Christians think they have the corner on spirituality. I did enjoy the broad idea, though, that spirituality can be found, and is helpful, in life-threatening situations. Mostly, though, the value that I found in this book was simply in learning more about what it's actually like--or, at least what it was like for one battalion--to be combat in Iraq. For that reason, I highly recommended this to other VA staff and any others who are interested in gaining an inside picture of the war.

The beginning section is all about the benefits to reading to children of all ages. Then the end includes lists of great read-aloud books including age/grade recommendations. We've just begun working through the younger section of the list with our kids.
