This is a quiet book about a complicated father-son relationship. I liked the effect of the disjointed narrative, from the perspective of a lonely, but self-sufficient old man remembering his life. It was a pleasure to read because it was so well written, with some great insights.

the book was ok. good writing, development, characters - everything was fine. but no real pull to care about the characters and i found towards the end i was just reading it to get through it. the characters were likable but nothing will make them stand out and be remembered. i rate it a 3/5 because it'll be one of those books that a few months down the road i won't remember what happened in the book.
