I thought this book had some potential for a follow-up writing activity or a book talk introducation for students. It done as a read aloud I don't think I would read the whole book first, I would read parts of the book and then do the writing activity of, if you had one wish to make what would that wish be? I would then continue the reading after looking at the classes response to the wish idea. This activity would also be a great lead into to a book talk to get students to read the book themselves. It did get a bit long to me and had an interesting ending but still good.

I liked it but the story suffered because the writer failed to bridge the gap between 2011 and the dated terms and information he was relating. In the hands of someone like Laura Hillenbrand this would have been "the most incredible rescue mission" and they wouldn't need to tell us that in the title as the story would stand on it's own merit.
