Not in the Brochure: Stories of a Disappointing Apocalypse Edited by Christopher Nadeau Reviewed by Alex Canton-Dutari This collection of hair-rising short stories is the creation of a group of wonderful writers, and very creative as well. Apocalypse was described according to each author's inner conviction of how his personal life could end. For some I found an almost Kafkan script. I kept looking for a message of hope throughout the stories. My search ended in failure. Nevertheless, the book is of timely interest…. I guess it will always be, unless one of the authors described the true future of our world. If so, it would not be of timely interest as the time will have ended. BTW, editing should be revised.

The premise of this book has an interesting twist. The main character has an imaginary friend when she is a child. When she becomes an adult, he reappears in her life while he's taking some time off in between kids who need imaginary friends - but he's not quite imaginary any more. Watching both of them deal with his "imaginaryness" gives the book some interest. Otherwise, it's pretty much a script for a romantic comedy movie.

This book is very funny, a good read if you want something lite and amusing.
