** spoiler alert ** I couldn't believe Jackson was killed in the beginning!! As soon as he entered the bank I just knew it would happen. I was like 'NO!!! Not mere minutes before their wedding!!' When her deputy told her he was hurt bad but alive, I had a little bit of hope, but not much since I knew it was a shotgun blast to his chest. Even knowing he'd probably died while they were on the way, I still cried when she saw him dead. I just couldn't get over his death, or how she was able to keep working like she did. I know she explained it by her compartmentalizing ability but still, I'd have been a wreck (like she was when she saw he was taking her to Paris). Then when Stone kept asking how she was and asked her to come see his plane and all I suspected he would be her next suitor but was pleased that he didn't turn up that way. I would have been mad so close to Jackson's death. The book itself was much better than the first one I have to say. Though I was a little disappointed that she never really dealt with or handled Jackson's death at all. She just pushed it aside and wouldn't think about it. There were a couple nights she cried, or would wake up or go home thinking he'd be there only to realize he was gone but she didn't really let it all out and cry or go comatose or anything. I'm wondering if it'll happen in the next book or if it will just stay buried behind her work. Though she did say work didn't hold as much appeal to her anymore. Maybe that's her coping mechanism. To shut all feeling out, even though that's not what she wants to do, it seems she's doing it anyway.
