حتى بعد أن سمحت لي إحدى الطالبات أن أستعير نسختها من هذه الرواية ، فقد شعرت بالخوف من الحجم واللغة ، لذا فقد جلست في كومة القراءة كل الربيع ومعظم فصل الصيف. منذ أن عرفت أنه يتعين علي إعادتها إليها عندما بدأت المدرسة ، التقطت الصوت من المكتبة وتم سحبها على الفور إلى القصة. جودة تاريخية كبيرة في قصة معقدة.

كتاب آخر رائع من نيكي !!! إذا كان بإمكاني إعطاء نصف نجوم ، فهذا في الحقيقة أكثر من 4/12 نجوم ، لأنني أحب هذا بالفعل أفضل من الكتاب 1 (The Mating - مصنفة 4 نجوم). أنا أحب الحب راين! اللغز أفضل بكثير في هذا الكتاب وقد جعلني أتساءل "ما هي الصفقة؟!؟!". يجب أن أقول ، لقد صدمت جدًا من بعض الأحداث ولم يكن لدي أي فكرة عما كان سيحدث. نظرًا لأن شكواي الوحيدة حول الكتاب 1 كانت عدم وجود التخمين والقرائن الواضحة للغاية ، فقد فوجئت بـ The Keeping. الآن ... سبب خصم 1/2 نجمة. شعرت أن المشهد "قتال" في الغابة قد هرع قليلاً. عندما اكتشفنا من مات (لا تريد التخلي عن أي مفسدين :) ، كنت مثل .. "هذا كل شيء؟!؟" كنت أتوقع "أسير حرب" كبيرة ، لكن بدا الأمر سهلاً للغاية. مرة أخرى - أحب هذه السلسلة وسوف يكون الكتاب القادم قريبا!

Another book I had to read for a class, but wow was it worth it. Some of the statistical stuff was so very thorough it bordered on mind-numbing, but it was a fantastic book.

This is no Flying Spaghetti Monster story. If you've ever caught yourself wondering whether piety creates faith? Whether faith can redeem regardless of where it is placed? Then this is a story for you that holds nothing back. My friend Charlie posted this quote by Bertrand Russell: "What is wanted is not the will to believe, but the will to find out, which is the exact opposite. Does this notion inspire you? Even if it doesn't there is plenty more to enjoy in this unique novella. Though not the crux of the story, the fighting is well written (as in Zoe's Tale). The neo-dark ages scene is set aboard ship and explores at the military chain of command many of the same questions it explores about decision making and faith. Who is a captain responsible to, his crew or his government? What kind of leader gets the most from his crew, how should he read and respond to their needs? Is it be allowable or honorable to refuse a promotion? And finally, a central theme in the Old Man's War series is repeated in mantra-like fashion by Shalle, one of The God Engines central characters who says: "None of us are all of who we are to any one person".
