I think this book typifies female sexuality in a woman's twenties--looking for love and acceptance through sex. Discovering that sex is multi-faceted, sometimes boring, exhausting, disappointing, dirty, casual, intense, life-changing, intimate, amazing. Even though she dreams about the zipless fuck, she discovers that it's not about the reality of sex or who it's with--it's about her. She needs to learn to please herself and take risks for her own personal development. I think that is a huge struggle we all have--stay the course or make a change.

This book is beautifully written and compelling. I definitely recommend it. My only problem is that Greene wasn't entirely forthcoming about her role in the events of the book--she was married to one of the lawyers. She completely wrote herself OUT Of the book. I think that revealing her own perspective might have given the book more depth. I loved this book, though. It complicates our textbook understandings of the Civil Rights movement and its consequences.
