The first time I read this book my mind went numb every time I was forced to read it my freshman year of college. Thankfully I read it again my senior year. I would say the book redeemed itself then, but I know that I just grew up a little bit.
I really, really liked this one. Fantasy, yes, but the feelings that are conjured up are all very real. Funny, sad, provocative, entertaining...the lovely adjectives go on and on. One of those you can enjoy on a number of levels - it works as a breezy thriller or as a fairly sophisticated philosophical musing on gods, God, god, etc., and what people believe, must believe, should believe, need to believe, etc. Pratchett is good stuff.
