For a while, I thought I didn't like this novel: it read like a preachy existential fiction -- like Camus or Sartre, but not as compelling as either one. The ending redeemed it in my eyes, when hope was almost lost! Greene's characters are all awful people, but that's part of the magic of his fiction, and what makes it convincing and ultimately irresistable.

Break out the Grey Goose and let the drinking begin. If you enjoy watching her show on 'E' you will definately enjoy this book. Cheers!
