I will probably get burned at the stake for these comments, but.... I don't want to take away ANYTHING from Bauby's condition or that he "wrote" this little book using his left eye blinking to a translator, letter by letter. On the other hand, I was hoping to read more about how he felt, or how he reacted to the situation that he finds himself in now with the "locked in syndrome". Instead, I find it a "lite" version of his life - selfish and demeaning to others. I mean - he misses his BMW more than being able to move, to eat, to love? Come on! I cannot understand how this was made into a movie, nor where others found it so inspiring. Again, I don't want to diminish Bauby's attempts, but it was a good thing I read these 131 pages in about an hour and a half. Had it been any longer, I would have put it down far sooner.
