His writing is not necessarily Good, as in high quality, but is good as in the way that an episode of Law and Order draws you in. after the first few pages, I was a bit disappointed that he took the same tack -- repeating characters, same themes, etc. -- I felt like he could have tackled new issues (a la The Wire?). But: about halfway through it hit critical mass, where I had to read the book everywhere I went until it ended. So, 3 stars for being engaging.
