Picked this book up at the Bay Area Writing Project's book swap. Loved it; read it all over the house, at the kitchen table, on the couch, in the back yard, in bed. Set in the 1960's and published in 2001, it's a funny, curious, heartbreaking story set in the mid-west and heading west. Wonderful narrator, eleven year old asthmatic boy, it raises questions about love, family, faith, redemption and miracles, without being corny. Great timeless regional voice.

Nothing much happens, but it's a wonderful look into the thoughts and feelings of young teens.
